I feel a bit like I am finishing up a final project for school. I’m having flashbacks to college all-nighters. However, I am NOT doing any all-nighters around here unless they are facilitated by a 9-month-old.
It was trick-or-treat day in our neck of the woods and the last day of my husband’s work-week (fyi, for those of ya’ll that don’t know, I write these posts the night before which makes it kind of weird, but if I didn’t the stress of blogging would do me in). It was also cold! (High 40s I think.)
We went “trunk or treating” at a local church. My Roo played the shy one and ZouZou was fearless. Afterwards, Roo said “I wish I was brave like ZouZou so that I could have gotten as much candy as her.” And there you have today’s life lesson.
If you want the candy, you have to be brave.
While the children reveled in their Halloween spoils, I was able to get Etsy tagging and pricing completed. I’ve learned the hard way that I can’t sew while the kids are awake but I was happy to get something done on the computer. Yes, I did choose a pricing formula. I priced much, much higher than I would ever think to price if someone asked me on the street, but I am to the point where I just do not have the time and energy to slave away for pennies. That being said, I hit the machine again tonight because there are two low cost items I want to put in my shop before it opens. Without compromising the ‘integrity’ of my shop, I wanted to offer a couple of little, inexpensive things that have the potential to generate positive feedback. My doll clothes are not going to sell until I sell dolls, so I do need to get numbers in my stats to help people feel more comfortable purchasing from me. One of my little items really excites me — I just figured it out tonight — because I see it as sort of a souvenir. Also, I don’t know if any friends or family might want to buy from me and I want to have a reasonable thing or two to offer. Unfortunately, I need to fix something with my felt kits, so I don’t think I’ll have them done when I open, but we’ll see. And I have to stop this super-duper long paragraph now because it’s getting out of hand.
I started working on paper tags to attach to my items with twine (at least that’s the plan). I threw something together in Word, but can’t print it until I can get my new laptop to communicate with my old printer. Might be getting a pdf converter and going that route since I can’t email my docs to myself and open them up on our other computer because that computer has Word ’03 and the conversion is not pretty!
See you tomorrow maybe
